Forans Young Rider Eventing Series
The first leg of the Foran’s Young Riders series got off to a great start in Gurteen College, Co. Tipperary in late March. Heather Lynch took the top spot, adding just 4.4 cross country time faults to an impressive dressage score of 45.6. Joanne Younghusband took 2nd place, with superb jumping displays to finish on her dressage score of 50.2. James Dalrymple took 3rd with only 2 cross country time faults to add to their dressage score.
On the 25th of April, Rademon in Co. Down provided the stunning backdrop for the second leg of the league, with a larger entry of 14 making for a much hotter competition. Jumping and time faults are always the more important factors when deciding the places at Rademon and 2009 proved no different. The strong show jumping track and tight cross-country time were extremely influential and the worthy winner was James Dalrymple who took the top spot despite two poles down in the showjumping with a speedy round across the country, collecting just 3.6 time penalties. Joanna Younghusband made the long journey up from Co. Cork to take second place once again, with Eleanor Barns-Graham, who was in the lead after dressage, slotting into 3rd place.
